Description Cleistocactus Strauss is a perennial cactus of the family Cactaceae. Cactus (Cleistocactus Strauss) is known for a single, fuzzy white spine. Thriving in window sills, greenhouses and even outdoors, the Silver Torch requires plenty of space to spread its roots. When it reaches 18 inches in height, watch for a beautiful show as peach-colored blooms appear during the spring and summer months. Cleistocactus Strauss (silver torch or wooly torch) is a perennial cactus of the family Cactaceae. It is native to high mountain regions of Bolivia and Argentina, above 3,000 m (9,843 ft).
